When I read about the way in which library funds are being cut and cut, I can only think that society has found one more way to destroy itself.

THIS is the kind of thing I’ve been talking about for the past few years. Education needs to step it up already.

The Kids Are Pissed Off of the Day: 15-year-old Barnaby rails against “The Establishment” in an eloquent speech sparked by the recent tuition fee protests in and around London.

If nothing else, his testicles have clearly descended.

I reeled when I found out that the UK were tripling their university fees. Smart move, UK. Say bye-bye to your future.

The fuck?
How can you ignorant fucks list homophobia with issues that are so so so much more important to the world?
Tumblr you suck sometimes, fo’ real you do.

Oooooh look at me, I live in a first world country and sometimes rednecks say mean things to me because I dress like a fucking man whore all the time because apparently being gay gives me a license to do so, then I complain when people make fun of me!I am more important than poverty because I am like… so much more important!

Fucking queers sometimes…
*I have many gay relatives whom I am very close to, so go and jump in front of a train before you hop on your high horse you delinquent fucktard.

Excuse me, I am going to vomit.
How dare you suggest that homosexuals are any less worthy of equality? How is homophobia any different from racism? They’re both discrimination against groups of people who have no control over the things for which they’re being targeted. Black people are born black. White people are born white. Straight people are born straight. Gay people are born gay. How dare you say that this issue is any less important? People are dying, people are suffering, and these people are no less important than the victims of anything else. It’s people like you that perpetuate this toxic fucking environment for them.
Quit hiding your homophobia behind condescending self-congratulation and this whole facade that you’re just being ~edgy and real. This is absolutely disgusting and abhorrent and the fact that you dare try to pass yourself off as being tolerant or justified in anything you’re saying with a fucking disclaimer at the end makes it even worse. You should be fucking ashamed of yourself.

Yawn.

How are they different?

Gays weren’t enslaved for centuries, that’s how they are different, you ignorant racist fuckwit.
Fuck you are indignant.
Go and eat some dicks you slut.

Shit, I need a second to let the classiness waft over me.

I don’t think that all-you-everwanted meant to say that homophobia wasn’t a problem, because clearly, it is. And by no means should the marches stop and the fights for equality cease. But, let’s face it, homophobia IS a very first-world, wealthy-people’s issue. You may not consider yourself ‘wealthy’, and you may work your ass off for your living, but the fact of the matter is, if you’ve got a place to live in, food on the table, not to mention internet access, you’re in the world’s top 7%. And I think people can definitely agree that if we were to prioritise these issues, AIDS, poverty and preventable third-world diseases - people’s lives in the firing line here, ranks higher than changing aspects of cultural norms.
Again, as to not to get myself caught up in the bitch-fest here - homophobia IS an important issue. There’s no denying that. But to tell ourselves that it’s more important than ending unnecessary disease and deaths in countries that aren’t nearly as well-off as us - when we have the resources - is ignorance beyond measure.

Jon Stewart’s closing speech at The Rally to Restore Sanity (and/or Fear).

Faith in humanity: +75

The entire story of human history takes about 80 minutes to tell.
Unfortunately, we don't have that kind of time.
